The print is signed and has artist notes on the side. Which was a common practice in the late 1800s. Chartran Théobald lived in Paris and was both an artist and teacher.
Born in the city of Besançon. On top of doing male nudes, he was a very popular portrait artist for both men and women. Later in his career he was commissioned to do a portrait of Teddy Roosevelt. We’ll do more on him in future posts.
