Jan Harmensz. Muller was a successful Dutch engraver and painter. Focusing on projects for both the wealthy and the emerging and very powerful middle class or “Guilds Men.” His father was a prolific book printer, engraver, and publisher. He published brochures on the arts, politics, trade, ships for sale, and real estate. Also, very popular with the poets of his day too. He learned the engraving trade while working at the family business. He traveled frequently and lived in Italy for a time. Travels included clients in nearby Paris, Antwerp, Brussels, and Dresden.
