Lawrence Alma-Tadema (1836-1912). Sculptors in Ancient Rome (1877). Can be seen at the Museum of Bogdan and Varvara Khanenko. Kyiv, Ukraine.
“LADIES, we love this piece! It shows the beauty of a manly man and takes us to a time of pure fantasy for women. Will they work on that bust of Cleopatra next? Who knows? The artists address the ethnic diversity in ancient Rome and shows what an actual workplace looks like. What is was like to work on a gigantic piece of sculpture. Sadly, this work is in Ukraine. Hopefully you can visit it one day when peace reigns.”
