Jules Bastien-Lepage was a French academic painter, associated with the school of Naturalism. Bastien-Lepage was born in the French village of Damvillers. Jules Bastien-Lepage father was his art teacher and ran a successful vineyard to support his family. Jules Bastien-Lepage parents fostered his creativity by buying prints of paintings for him to copy and art supplies. Also, supporting the young artist interest in furthering his studies.
