French painter and engraver, who achieved the title of Baron. He was born in Paris and worked there; but also traveled and worked in Germany and Italy.
A spectacular and noted student of Jean-Baptiste Regnault. He won many awards and a dominant winner of the Prix. He also received honors from the esteemed Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
