ABOUT:

Something Is Out There Mini-Series
5/8 – 9/1988 – NBC

“A beautiful intergalactic woman who joins forces with a local cop when his city is being terrorized by an escaped being from another world.”

OUR THOUGHTS:

A wonderful “bug hunt” sci-fi horror film. It truly gets under your skin and has a wonderful love story too.

“Something is Out There” premiered 37 years ago today, May 8, 1988, as a two-part miniseries on NBC-TV. It aired in two-hour installments on two consecutive nights.

Police detective Jack Breslin (Joe Cortese) teams up with alien medical officer Ta’Ra (Maryam d’Abo) to track down a murderous shape-shifting creature (and along the way, generate some interplanetary heat of their own).

The miniseries also starred George Dzundza as Breslin’s partner, Frank Dileo, Gregory Sierra as their boss, Capt. Victor Maldonado and Kim Delaney as Mandy Estabrook, Jack’s fiancee and the police commissioner’s daughter.
Cortese, d’Abo and Sierra would all reprise their roles for a short-lived weekly series in the fall.
Fun fact: Cortese and Delaney married the following year and divorced in 1994.
