SUMMER OF SCI-FI: 06.01.2024 to 09.01.2024
Soldier is the film you should rent this summer. Packed with a wonderful story and a lot of handsome men and a very plausible corporate elite dystopian vision.
The 1998 science fiction action film directed by Paul W. S. Anderson starring Kurt Russell. It bombed at the box office, and received generally negative reviews, but many praised Kurt Russell’s performance and the special effects. Despite the films financial failure, Soldier is now a cult film with every sci-fi movie trope you can list in the script and it’s glorious. Interestingly the film appears to share the same fictional universe as Blade Runner. A Spinner from Blade Runner is seen wreckage on the junk planet, and Russell’s character had apparently took part in the battles referred to in Roy Batty’s monologue (the Shoulder of Orion and Tannhäuser Gate).
