Fashion model Helen Williams broke down barriers in the modeling industry, tackling issues of race & discrimination, in 1950s & 1960s. Initially modeling for Ebony, she moved to Paris to expand beyond the racism in the industry in the United States. She modeled for Dior and others, and when Williams returned to the States, helped open some US doors & advertising for popular brands. She was a #nationaltreasure There are many excellent online & published articles available on her pathbreaking career. Two of my favorite photos of Williams are included. #polkadotsandpearls #classicstyle See @vintageblackglamour @nichellegainer
