We had a chance to catch a Euro preview of this soon to be released sci-fi horror classic in the States. All we can say is have a strong stomach and be prepared to be disturbed. This film is perfect for the Summer of Sci-Fi or this Oct. for Halloween.
We won’t give the story away, but it’s a tale of Gretchen, who leaves her American home to live with her father, who has just moved into a resort in the German Alps with his new family. Arriving at their future residence, they are greeted by Mr. König, her father’s boss, who takes an inexplicable interest in Gretchen’s mute half-sister Alma. Something doesn’t seem right in this tranquil vacation paradise. Gretchen is plagued by strange noises and bloody visions until she discovers a shocking secret that also concerns her own family.
A Film by Tilman Singer Starring Hunter Schafer, Dan Stevens, Jessica Henwick
OUR THOUGHTS: Definitely not for the little ones. A wonderful date movie. Also, lock the doors and set the alarm for those who stream at home. Words to describe it –
Awesome story, strong female lead, disturbing, weird, sexy, odd, makes one not to want to travel, very scary, and well done. The film takes place before the invention of the smartphone. Late 1980s, early 1990s. Nice retro feel.
