ABOUT THE ARTWORK:
American academic artist, Paul Cadmus, shows a typical scene from a locker room in 1935 America. A sketch for WPA work, but never became a mural. The line drawing shows two men talking while getting ready to leave the gym.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Paul Cadmus was an American artist of Cuban-American and Spanish ancestry. Cadmus was one of the first artists to be employed by The New Deal art programs, painting murals at post offices and other public buildings. He always captured American masculinity in its raw and editorial nature. His works are full of social critique and understanding the nature of male attractiveness.
