Joseph Désiré Court was a French academic painter. He also specialized in historical topics/subjects and portraits. Most of his portraits were military subjects, but he also known for his upper-class and bourgeois paintings of women too. Well sought after for his work and lived from 1797 to 1865 in the city of Paris.
