ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jacques-Louis David is one of our favorite academic artists for the staff of BEAUX HOMMES. He captures the beauty of the school or genre of art, and shaped French art and transcended the royalist period to the republic, to the rise of Napoleon, and finally ending in the Bourbon Restoration. The later period resulting in exile from France to Belgium. At the end of his life, he was out of favor with the French elite (royal family) and some in the government. He later died in Brussels, Belgium.
