Born in the 1800s (b.1834), Edgar Degas was a French Impressionist artist who was very famous for his lovely pastel drawings and lifelike oil paintings. He had the ability to capture faces with photo-realism. He is considered one of the fathers of Impressionism, but rejected the term and preferred to be called a “realist.”
