ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Anton Raphael Mengs was a painter and teacher, who was very active in art scenes of Dresden, Rome, and Madrid.
He did his painting in the Rococo period of the mid-18th century and became one of the artistic precursors to the school of Neoclassicism and Neoclassical painting, which later replaced Rococo as the most sought-after painting style in Europe.
