SUMMER OF SCI-FI: 05.01.2025 to 09.01.2025
One of the great successes of the original V and The Final Battle was how these separate strands of the story eventually came together in very important ways. Robin and Brian seemed a bit disconnected from the rest of the plot as it advanced in the original, until Robin was kidnapped by the Visitors and taken aboard the mothership and we all know where that led. And here the Robin/Brian relationship became even more impactful to the larger plot as Robin takes it upon herself to test the red dust for revenge. The writers really knocked it out of the park, and this scene was produced extremely well.
Kudos also to Blair Tefkin because we thought here, she displayed an effective mixture of feigning innocence with Brian along with giving us a hint in her acting that she’s up to something. After all the maddening trauma Robin had been through, regressing into some naive teenage fantasy idea of escape with Brian might actually seem plausible, so the audience isn’t completely sure what her intentions are until she reveals the red dust, and Tefkins acting helps create that tension.
If you’ve never seen the original V movies or series from the 1980s or the wonderful remake done by ABC in the USA, check it out. It’s a sci-fi lover’s dream.
Happy Father’s Day too. Guys, treat your women right. The feminist revenge arc on this scene and part of the story is awesome.
