“Rowers” by Joseph Christian Leyendecker (1874-1951), an American illustrator known for his iconic magazine covers and advertisements.
The artwork, also known as “Rowers at Rest,” was featured on the cover of Scribner’s Magazine in 1905, and a similar piece was used for the August 6, 1932 cover of the Saturday Evening Post.
Leyendecker created a total of 322 covers for the Saturday Evening Post between 1899 and 1943, with “Rowers” being an example of his early work for the publication.
