A seated male by Jean-Germain Drouais (1763-1788). The figure takes a dramatic pose, with Greco-Roman references. The man is twisted to show the full grace of his beautiful torso.
The model is a local decorative painter and laborer. Later he would die in the French Revolution fighting against tyranny.
