Today is the day and we’re beyond excited. For fans of the HULU sci-fi series, The Handmaid’s Tale is overjoyed that the long overdue series finale is coming on today.
A series that made history and is definitely dystopian and placed Margaret Atwood in the forefront of the sci-fi genre. Predicting our futures? We pray she was wrong, but Rodenberry and George Lucas worlds are having trouble coming true now. The dystopian model has taken hold with no “shiny sexy” optimism of shows such as Buck Rogers are gone for now. Instead replaced with fear and hatred sci-fi. Even Logan’s Run has a certain sexy charm to it, although it was technically a dystopia too.
But Atwood’s work gives us hope and has always shown people fighting back against fascism. That fascism and its enablers fall and the good people triumph. We hope GILEAD falls hard and justice is delivered to the handmaidens. Also, we want to know what will happen to Aunt Lydia?
