HALLOWEEN ISSUE: 09.01.2025 to 10.31.2025
ABOUT:
And Now The Screaming Starts! is a 1973 British gothic horror film from Amicus Productions, a competitor of Hammer Films. Also known as Fengriffen or Bride of Fengriffen, the movie is based on the 1970 novella Fengriffen by David Case and was directed by Roy Ward Baker
Set in 1795 England, the film follows newlyweds Charles and Catherine Fengriffen, who move into Charles’ ancestral estate. Immediately upon their arrival, Catherine is plagued by horrifying visions and strange, supernatural encounters, including a crawling, disembodied hand. A family secret is eventually revealed: a century earlier, Charles’ grandfather, Sir Henry Fengriffen, committed a terrible act against a servant, who in turn placed a curse on the family.
As Catherine’s visions worsen and she becomes pregnant by a ghostly figure, the family’s doctor, Dr. Pope, is brought in to investigate. He attempts to find a rational explanation for Catherine’s torment. The film culminates in a rain-soaked finale as Charles uncovers the truth about his grandfather’s gruesome crime and the terrifying extent of the curse on his family.
OUR THOUGHTS:
This film is perfect for those who wish to have inspiration for their creative projects, and those who desire a classic horror tale. Especially, if your style from Hammer and British. The film is scary and the moral tale of venegance is strong.
