ABOUT:
Benji encounters Jake at an airport gate, sensing attraction. Their relationship unfolds through Amsterdam trips and intimacy, revealing complex power dynamics and a lot of dysfunction, which occurs when one partner loves harder than the other.
The film is very current and focusses on trying to figure out what went wrong with an X. The character study is complex and it’s not clear if both men are gay or if one identifies as straight. The film is good for straights to watch too, because the themes of crazy X-lovers resonate with a lot of people and the two men interact with various family members too. We won’t spoil it but the flick is gritty, violent, emotional, and full of a lot or reminders about the one that got away and were they really the one.
