“Wrestling with an Angel.” Cornelius McCarthy (1935-2009). Cornelius was a graphic artist, academic model, and one time a janitor that did non-male, commercial graphic arts for British advertising in the 1960s. He then quit that profession and became a sometimes model and janitor for a while and then taught as university art teacher. His subjects are masculine and sometimes considered homo-erotic. He was gay. First in the closet, then open once the UK changed its laws regarding gays.
