BLACK HISTORY MONTH: “One of our favorite countries and civilizations in Africa. Africa is a huge place. You can fit four United States into her continental borders and still have room. Ethiopia never was conquered during the age of colonialism. This video essay explores her incredible history. Also, the first country in the world to become Christian. This fact was well known in Europe too. Don’t believe us. Look at the works of Caravaggio. The one entitled “The Martyrdom of Saint Matthew,” is all about the Christian disciples Ethiopia and their impact on local politics. The subjects in the painting are all of course Italian. Please view this the same way that Japanese cinema has done stories on ancient Egypt and of course all the actors are from Japan.”

Kisses from PARIS!!!

Caravaggio’s The Martyrdom of Saint Matthew depicts the death of the saint in Ethiopia. The painting is part of a series of three works about Matthew in the Contarelli Chapel in Rome.
