From May 20, 2026, to March 15, 2027, the exhibition “Primordial Water” takes us on a journey to the heart of ancient Mesopotamia, to discover a world where water was ubiquitous, unlike the regions that have become particularly arid today. It offers a journey through the galleries of the Department of Near Eastern Antiquities at the Louvre Museum and in an exhibition space (Room 230), where water, this essential element, becomes a source of life and a prosperous civilization, but also the cause of numerous conflicts, such as the first water wars.
