HALLOWEEN ISSUE: 09.01.2025 to 10.31.2025
The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh (Italian: Lo strano vizio della Signora Wardh) is a 1971 giallo mystery film directed by Sergio Martino, and starring Edwige Fenech, George Hilton, Ivan Rassimov, and Alberto de Mendoza. Its plot follows the wife of a diplomat who finds herself being stalked by her former abusive lover in Vienna. The letter “h” was added to the name “Ward” when an Italian woman named Mrs. Ward threatened legal action over the original title’s potentially damaging her good name, just before the film was released. The film was originally released under the title Blade of the Ripper in the United States. It was also released under the alternate titles Next! and The Next Victim.

OUR THOUGHTS:
This is film is fabulous! We’ve always had a “soft spot” for Giallo films. This is an erotic thriller with a serial killer motif for the storyline. The story is for adults and should only be viewed by people over the age of 18. The themes are complex. Sex, blackmail, lust, women looking for satisfaction, well put together male lovers for married women, and the fear of the husband finding out. The film is violent and the violence, in our opinion goes with the story. The serial killer is wicked and has a message to send. The sets and costumes are 1970s fabulous and will provide a lot of inspiration for those in “The Creative Set.” Remember, be inspired, don’t copy 100% and give credit to your sources.
Happy Halloween!
