William Etty (1787-1849) – self-portrait, 1823.
William Etty was a devoted academic artist from the UK (United Kingdom). His works focused merged the beauty of the working-class man, with the greatness and historical context of Greco-Roman themes. Thanks to both luck and also the fact that he pushed the masculine ideals of British manhood, a lot of his artwork has survived the ages and conservative purges. These two facts, means we have a huge body of work by the artist to appreciate. We’ll do more on him in the future.
