Planet of the Apes is beyond classic. It’s entered a whole new level of iconic. The film, based on the famous French novel with the same name, by French sci-fi writer, Pierre François Marie Louis Boulle. The book was called La Planète des singes, known in English as Planet of the Apes in the US and Monkey Planet in the UK. The novel tells the tale of three human explorers from Earth who visit a planet orbiting the star Betelgeuse, they discover a civilization where apes rule over man.
